The S 1000 RR suits a rider who wants a superbike with predictable manners. The 999 cc inline-four with ShiftCam makes 210 hp at 13,750 rpm yet pulls evenly in the midrange, so it is not jerky in town. The quickshifter works both up and down, and Rain mode softens throttle response in wet weather.

Kerb weight is 197 kg. It is at its best on the climbs between Patong and Karon and on the road around Nai Harn early in the morning, before the traffic.
