We leave around midday and stay on the island into the evening, after the day-trip groups have gone. Racha Yai is 30-40 minutes from Chalong pier. The island is not part of a national park, so there are no entry fees.

The first snorkel is in Siam Bay. Then Patok Bay: a wide beach with cafes where you can have lunch, swim and rest in the shade. Before leaving we snorkel again in Kon Kare Bay if the swell allows. Snorkel spots are chosen on the day according to the weather.

On the way back the boat stops off Promthep Cape in the south of Phuket and you watch the sunset from the water. The sun goes down at about 18:10-18:50 depending on the month. It suits couples and families who can swim. Bring swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen and a light layer for the evening.
